I guess you have to define "great."
Cafe Victoria in the King Edward, on King Street East, just east of Yonge Street, would meet my "great" definition. Fifteen minute walk from the Intercontinental on Front Street.
Or the Intercontinental itself.

point well taken. great is in the eye of the beholder, of course.
to me, great is yummy, not miserly, good eggs and pancakes, creative but not self-consciously precious, and not overly formal.
down home, wonderful ingredients, you leave feeling satisfied and happy.

at the corner of Blue Jay's way.
Walk west on Front to Blue Jay's way
from your hotel and north one block on Blue Jay's way to Wellington.

Agree on Eggspectation. If you want a big cholesterol feast - eggs, ham, bacon, sausage etc. - or great crepes and omelets, it's a great spot. The coffees are excellent as well, although they're still trying to perfect things at the new T.O. location. The one on de Maissoneuve in Montreal is the best.
