Great place to eat in Sarnia

We'd like to cross the border into Sarnia this coming Sunday (5/16/02) for a special Mother's Day celebration. Since it isn't a "holiday" in Canada, we're assuming the restaurants will be less crowded.

Any suggestions on a nice restaurant to enjoy a Sunday diner? Thanks for any and all help!

The 2nd Sunday in May is Mothers Day in Canada also, so the premise of your question is flawed. I've been to Sarnia perhaps a dozen times, have yet to come across a great restaurant.

I guess this is the type of "question/statement" that can get me going. No its not the Presidents Day, 4th of July, Martin Luther King Day, etc. or whatever other "American" holidays you have, its MOTHERS day, not exactly a domain of the Americans! We have those here too in Canada.

Well, strangely enough, here in Canada we celebrate Mothers Day on a SUNDAY, this year its 05/12. Must be an American calendar that has 05/16 down as a Sunday. We dont have that one in Canada, sorry.

Thank you for all of the RUDE replies. I thought only the US forums were famous for being obnoxious, but once again I was wrong.

I apologize for the typo, yes this Sunday is May 12. And looking at my calendar, I noticed that there is a "Mothering Sunday" in Canada on March 10 so I assumed you wouldn't also celebrate "Mother's Day" 2 months later.

Seems to me like people are always looking for a fight on these forums....I'll keep my dinner dollars in the US this Sunday.

Lighten up, guys! So Jill didn't realize that May 12th was Mother's Day in Canada, big deal. Does that merit a nasty response? There are days that are celebrated in the US that aren't celebrated here in Canada and vice versa.

I just checked my calendar and Mothering Sunday is something that is celebrated in the U.K. apparently. Maybe the British version of Mother's Day? My mother-in-law lives in Australia - we sent a card off today and I told my husband that it'll never get to her by the weekend, but who knows when Mother's Day is celebrated over there (or if it's celebrated at all).

Sorry, Jill, unfortunately I've never been to Sarnia, so can't make any restaurant reservations. I do know however that restaurants get very busy for brunch and lunch on Mother's Day.
