I cannot for the life of me figure out the appeal to ferrying from Maine to NS.
Upon arrival you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away from the greatest appeal to NS.
To drive around instead, puts you in proximity of Hopewell Cape, along the way... and once you pierce the NS border you are far more central to the things most want to see and do in NS.
If I lived in Maine, and just wanted to go someplace to vegetate for a while, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe I might take that ferry and then hole-up in some random motel on the NS side, far south of most anything of major interest. Aside from that, I cannot recommend contemplating that ferry.

After many years the CAT is coming back! The first trip from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth will be on June 21, 2019. They charge per person plus the fare for whatever vehicle you bring onboard. You can also walk on and then rent a vehicle in Nova Scotia.
