Day Trip to Muskoka

We, all adults, are tentatively planning to take a day trip over the Canada Day weekend to Muskoka from Toronto. The lake cruises sound very nice, but there seem to be quite a few. Will be grateful for suggestions. We are looking for scenic beauty. We plan to be there by 10 am and will like to leave by 7 pm. Will the traffic be horrendous? Suggestions for a spot of reasonable lunch will be very welcome also.

What else can we do besides the cruise in Muskoka? Thanks!

I see no one has responed to your inquiry. Although I have never gone on a cruise in Muskoka, the Segwun has always been popular. It leaves from Gravenhurst which would probably be the shortest drive from Toronto. The traffic will be heavy tonight, June 30th, and tomorrow July 1st, and returning Sunday to Toronto. Sorry, I can't recommend a place for lunch.

If you are looking for scenic beauty, there is no cruise that equals the 3000 island cruise on the Island Queen: http://www.island-queen.com/ It leaves from the Perry Sound doc and takes you right through the heart of Georgian Bay.

Muskoka covers a huge geograpic expanse....about 2,500 square miles. Where exactly do you want to go in Muskoka? Gravenhurst? Bracebridge? Huntsville? Muskoka Lakes? Georgian Bay? Lake of Bays?

Because tomorrow, Friday, July 1, is a national holiday (Canada Day), the traffic will be very, very heavy heading North from Toronto to Muskoka. This afternoon(Thursday) & tonight wil be bumper to bumper. Friday & Saturday will also be very busy. Sunday, July 3, the traffic going South will be the sme as it was on Friday going North.

I would pick Saturday, July 2 for your day trip. However, if you could wait until Monday, July 4 that would be even better or Tuesday, July 5 next week.

Thanks so much for your responses. We thought about the traffic and had second thoughts too, as there will be only one driver. We can make the trip on the 4th, and that is what we are planning to do now. Thanks again!

That makes sense.

Where exactly are you going?
