Going to School in Grenoble
My daughter will be going to Grenoble in September to do a Masters Program in Business.
She's not sure if she will rent an apartment with other students, which is her preference, or stay in residence which seems to be the cheaper option.
If anyone has any information on areas to avoid or just any general information or tips, it would be much appreciated.

Hello Kiddo, in that it is the 4th of July a lot of Fodorites are not on this Fodor's website today. And usually the weekends (especially a three day weekend) has less posters than during the week.
So if you don't get the information you need may I suggest that Monday morning you top this thead of yours and hopefully you will receive some good information. Best regards along will good wishes to your daughter. I can only imagine how excited she is feeling!

Thanks very much LoveItaly.
Yes, she's very excited as well as nervous too (as are the parents!).
That makes sense that the board would be quiet today with it being the 4th of July.
We had our long weekend last weekend to celebrate July 1st-Canada Day.
Happy Independence Day to our American friends!

My daughter lived and went to school at the University in Grenoble a few years ago. I'll forward her your questions and ask her if she'd be willing to reply to you directly with info that might be of help. If you want to email me with your email address, I'll pass your questions on.
I can say, she had a marvelous time there and I don't think she ever felt unsafe. She lived with a young single mom (arranged through her school) and took public transportation everywhere. She loved Grenoble and she did a lot of traveling throughout Europe. I didn't get a chance to visit her while she was there but we did have a fantastic trip to Paris together after she came back from Grenoble.
