I stayed at the hotel in its previous incarnations as the Westbury and Howard Johnson's so don't know what it's like now.
The location is great. It's midway between Eaton Centre and Yorkville shopping and about a block from the College Street subway stop.

If you scroll down to the Finding Breakfast part of http://www.briankilgore.com/TorontoTravelTips.htm you can see an arrow pointing to the Courtyard.
At least it gibes you a general idea of location, plus it will help you find breakfast.

TYGER, the location is fine, and it's close enough to lots of interesting things to be a fine loction for tourists. College subway is a block away. Eaton Centre is two or three blocks. Canon Theatre is just down the Street. Same for the Winter Garden.
Ten min utge walk to city hall. Twenty minutes to Bloor and Yonge / Yorkville.
And it turns out that the Honero restaurant I thought was a gay hangout turns out to be Spanish for Bakery (or something like that).
It would not be my first choice, but if someone booked it for me, I'd be happy enough.

It would be a long walk, but the great thing about Toronto is its efficient, elaborate, and convenient public transit system. A subway station is practically outside your hotel and by subway, you can reach many of the sites you want to go to, including the CN Tower.

The last time I walked past that Spanish bakery I kept walking and ended up a block or two from the CN Tower.
Regardless, wear comfy shoes in Toronto; it's sort of like new York in that this is a very easy city to walk in, for pretty long distances.
