My niece is planning to go to a concert there
and I am uncertain as to the location. Is
it at the CNE? Want to help her with a conveniently located hotel to stay while there. Thanks!

The Molson Amphitheatre is located on the grounds of Ontario Place (which is adjacent to the CNE grounds). The following link provides some good general info, a map, directions, etc:

Unfortunately, I don't have any hotel suggestions in this regard.

There is no conveniently placed hotel, in the sense of an easy walk to the concert.

But a dozen downtown hotels are close to Toronto Transit Commision routes that lead there, and the GO Train commuter trains that lead there.

The TTC routes include the Queen Street car or the King Street car, and transfer to the Bathurst car, and go into the TTC grounds. And there's a route along the waterfront.
Sheraton is on Queen Street, metropolitan is a block north of Queen, Holiday Inn of King is, not surprisingly, on King. There's a Radission on Queens Quay, the Royal York is opposite the Go station and the Novatel is a block from the Go station, and even the hotels along Bloor Street are easy enough to go from, and get to the CNE grounds, via subway and the Bathurst streetcar.

She should probably pick her hotel based on budget and lcoation in regard to other things to do in Toronto.

Is the plan for a real hotel, or do hostels appeal?

Thanks for the replies. After talking
with the gal at Toronto Tourism today,
she suggested a Travelodge on Queen and
Bathhurst I think it was. This sounded
good, as my niece has some health issues that restrict her from a lot of
long walking scenarios. So, thinking about that situation it seems a hotel
right on Bathurst would be the easiest
for her as far as being right on the street car line. I'm sure it is not
an elaborate lodging, but adequate for
three 20 something college gals to stay
in for a quick concert trip to TO. My
only concern would be the safety of the

I would not worry about the safety of the area, as long as the girls stay on the main streets. My daughter used to wrk near there, and there were no problems even when she worked late into the evening.

I'd worry about the boredom of the area, though. If they are only there one night, and that's the concert night, no big deal.

If they are there longer, and if walking is an issue, she might be happier further toward downtown. Taking a streetcar to Bathurst Street is no big deal.

If she's at the Travelodge during the day, she'll be able to take the streetcar towards downttown with no problem, so all in all, it'll be OK.

I hate to contradict BAK but when I read Bathurst and Queen I felt a little uneasy for her as I am a thirty year old and the area can be pretty "special" most of Toronto is safe...and this area is no exception I guess I know my mother would rather I stay somewhere a little more central in terms of safety...The area can be very active in the evening though and twenty somethings should be happy with that - there are clubs around that area and if she walks down to King street there is also a lot going on...again - Toronto is usually very safe if you are a smart young woman in a group...
