couple of days in Vancouver with children

We will have a day and a half in Vancouver after a cruise. We will be there with our three sons aged 4, 10 & 12. We would like to stay at a hotel which isn't too far from the port but in an area where we can walk or take public transportation to different sites (is it possible to take public transportation to the museum at the university?? we visited that years ago and I know that my boys would love it).

Also any other sites that our children would enjoy? They do enjoy doing outside stuff in particular.

Restaurant suggestions?
Thanks.

I think the Westin Bayshore is a great location for families--right on the water and very close to Stanley Park which is where I'd prioritize spending time with kids.

Stanley Park is wonderful. There is a little train and a petting zoo for the little one and an aquarium as well.
Granville island is a great thing to visit for both adults and kids. entertainers, markets, boats to watch, kids play area. Lots to do there.
There are so many resteraunts in Vancouver hard to narrow down. Lots at Granville island and a great food court too for lunch so that everyone is happy, or there is Bridges which is nice too.
Robson Street has lots of fantastic and many ethnic resteraunts to choose from.
With a day and a half I think Granville Island and Stanley Park would be plenty.
