Central Hotel in Toronto
My husband will be in Toronto for about 30 hours by himself. He (and I) likes museums, anything to do with water and boats, funky streets and casual restaurants with good food. I have been searching for a hotel in the heart of "everything" but I'm having a hard time visualizing the city and figuring out what would give him the easiest access to "everything". Mid-range price, clean, safe would be perfect. I read the NY Times article posted on the Canada site but then there seemed to be a lot of criticism of what was written. Thanks for any advice.

I travel to TO on business routinely and, lately, have enjoyed very much the Holiday Inn that is on Carleton and Yonge. It is new, clean, very quiet, and central. Within walking distance of decent shops and restaurants and the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) and the ROM and Gardiner...no idea what NYT article said, but I lived in TO for 30 years before moving away and would happily vouch for this one.

Thanks to Paul, Gary and LJ for the suggestions. My husband chose the Strathcona which had a single person room with very competitive price. Would have never found it without help of the forums. Responders are always so generous with their time.
