Celtic Pubs/Restaurants

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice Irish/Celtic pubs in the downtown Vancouver and/or Victoria area? I'm not overly fussy about the variety or quality of the food, I'm more interested in a place that has good live music performances. Thanks.

Hi Melissa. There is a pub/bar in downtown vancouver called the newfy bar, which isn't its real name, but everyone just calls it the newfy bar cause that's where all the irish newfoundlanders go. Lots of fun, big long tables so everyone sits with everyone, a great band, and everyone, and I mean everyone, sings along. Really good pub food. Its on Robson St. somewhere, but not sure where, close to Seymour St. I believe, you'd have to ask someone where you're here. Its not a 'nice' pub, its more of a typical newfy local fun place to go.

There is an Irish Pub in Victoria in the Inner Harbor. I can't remember the name of it, but it was good. I think is on Wharf Street.

Thanks for the replies. The Newfy bar sounds just like what I'm looking for. I'll be in the area for about 8 days, so if there are more suggestions from anyone else, please let me know! You can take the girl out of the east coast, but you can't take the east coast out of the girl!

As Barb said, it's not called the Newfy bar.

I think you're talking about the Atlantic Trap & Gill, on the corner of Seymour and Davie?

I haven't been there yet, but there's also the Blarney Stone on Carrall Street in Gastown (downtown) which has a great lively atmosphere, always a live Irish band playing tunes, and always a packed dancefloor. Most of my friends who hate your typical meat market clubs/pubs... they love the Blarney stone.
