Brentwood Bay
Has anyone been to Brentwood Bay. I checked out their website, but it is hard to get too ggod of a feel for the place. I am able to get a pretty good deal on three nights lodging, but I wanted to see if anyone had any reviews first. Thanks.

We live close by. Have never stayed there. It is a fairly new facility in a good location, although close to the street so not secluded but definitely quiet. The views across the inlet a very, very nice and the pool area also looks across the inlet.
We enjoy going down in the evening for a pizza and glass of wine. The dining room is for us expensive, but that is a relative term!
You need a car but it is close to Butchart Gardens and the Mill Bay ferry which provides an alternative route if you want to take a drive "up island".
Hope this helps. Ideally someone who has stayed there will respond.

I read a negative review but can't remember if it was here or somewhere else. I think generally it is overpriced but if you can get a good deal it would help. Nice location, just not as stunning as up around Tofino.
If you haven't already, you might want to check out reviews on http://www.tripadvisor.com/

Hello,
I haven't stayed there, but am a resident of Victoria who has visited the resort. We actually were looking at possibly holding our wedding there next April, but have ruled it out based purely on cost.
The resort is very luxurious and modern, with soaring high cedar ceilings in the lobby and a stone fireplace in the dining room next to floor-to-ceiling glass windows. All seats are leather-clad, and the decor is minimalist but stunning. The rooms look beautifully appointed, with each one having an ocean view and its own patio to enjoy the view from. Food I hear is quite good, but overpriced for what it is ~ there is some phenomenal dining to be had in Victoria for far less. For unforgettable food, try L'Ecole Brasserie for out of this world authentic French bistro dining, or Cafe Brio which has been voted as one of the best Mediteranean restaurants in Canada for several years running by culinary magazines.
If you can stay there for $200/night, you are lucky and will no doubt find it worth every penny. But I agree 100% with the other respondants that there is better in this price range. Long Beach has my heart, and I would recommend to anyone going there over Victoria if they had to choose. If you are determined to stay in the lower island area for a night, you would do better at either Sooke Harbour House or the Aerie for luxurious accomodations. Both have been 4 diamond award winners of international acclaim, and are far more sumptuous and impressive than Brentwood Bay. Check out their websites.
You should know that Brentwood Bay Lodge, while it is on the waterfront, is in a working harbour area. There is a ferry that runs over to Mill Bay that leaves right in front of the resort, so expect traffic and ferry fumes several times a day. Also, there isn't an actual beach area for exclusive guest enjoyment ~ the waterfront is public property, and more of a rocky frontage. Sooke Harbour House by contrast is on a gorgeous stretch of beach (actually on Whiffen Spit, so surrounded by ocean on 3 sides, with a sheltered bay (Sooke Basin) to the left). Sooke is about the same distance from downtown Victoria as Brentwood is, but in the opposite direction (towards the West Coast, south of where Tofino is located). The Aerie is on the Malahat, about 30 mins drive up island from Victoria, so very convenient if you are planning to head up to Nanaimo, Parksville, Tofino etc. It isn't on the waterfront, but perched high above everything nestled in the Malahat mountains. You would be looking directly across at the Saanich Peninsula from the resort, and have panaromic views of the Johnson Straight, and Seattle's Cascade Mountains in the distance. It is spectacular, and completely without match in this area.
Have a wonderful trip, whatever you may decide!
