Bars/Lounges with Views?

Could someone comment on the atmosphere of the Blue Martini Lounge at the Hilton? Are there other bars with views? Maybe at the casinos?

I'd rather go have a drink with a nice view, then pay to eat at The Keg, Watermark etc.

Thoughts?

Amelie, we have six time zones, for gosh sakes.

We have Hiltons and Kegs right across the country.

Okay, I happen to know you're asking about Niagara, but still.

Sorry! I posted under Ontario (is there more than one Blue Martini at a Hilton in Ontario!)? I know it shows up in all of Canada too, I search both ways.

Oops, I should have put "bars with views of the falls" at least.

Views, Keg, Watermark, etc. gave away that it was Niagara Falls.

A couple of times we've stopped for a drink in the lobby bar at the Marriott. Not a whole lot of atmosphere, but great view. I don't remember seeing a bar with view at the casino. A couple of high end restaurants with views.

Been years since I've been up the Skylon Tower - it has a revolving restaurant with views, but don't remember if it also has a "bar" area.

In nice weather, there's a little patio restaurant down in front of Clifton Hill called The Secret Garden Restaurant. It's downstream a bit but you can see the Falls, and it's surrounded by pleasant gardens, nice for an afternoon drink break while walking around on a sunny warm day. Don't think we've actually eaten there, might be worth checking out for lunch.

Thank you mat106, I will consider those. We ate at the revolving restaurant a few years ago. I don't remember the food, but I do remember the views!

We were also considering Edgewaters Tap and Grills. Seems kind of pricey though.

I thought maybe a bar at night for a drink, for something to do. Then a walk by the falls.

Hi again, amelie. I'm glad mat106 has answered your question. Sorry I snapped at you earlier. Yes, come to think of it, you are right. When you start a new thread, the format here on Fodor's gives you the illusion that threads are organized by province. In actual fact, all threads show up in the Canada-wide forum without any differentiation, as you now have found out. I do think that is one of the limitations of the Fodor's layout.

Don't worry about it. I've been on here for years and should know to better label my titles.

I do think these boards could use with an update/upgrade or something to allow for better features and seaching capabilities!

Edgewaters - is that the same location that used to be the Victoria Park Restaurant? Across the street from the Falls and owned by the Niagara Parks Commission? Something niggles at the back of my mind that it was under construction a while ago, maybe they renovated it and changed the name. At any rate, if its the place I'm thinking of, we've stopped for drinks on their outside upper deck a number of times in years past. Not much atmosphere back then, and sometimes you got wet from the mist blowing off the falls. But nice view. If they've renovated, they've probably improved this problem and the ambience. I will check it out myself next visit.

Right inside the Casino there are several bars. One very popular one is set back into it's own little alcove and has live entertainment, seems to draw a crowd in the evenings. No views though.

A possible option worth mentioning if you're in the area for a few days and have a car - some of the wineries up on the escarpment outside of town have outdoor dining patios overlooking the vineyards and over the escarpment to the lake in the distance, really nice. It might be possible to just have a glass of wine and/or maybe some tapas/appetizers on one of these patios.

I think that is the same restaurant mat106...

It says it's located on the second level of the Queen Victoria Place.
