Niagara Falls- Resturants

We are planning our first trip to the falls. 10/5-10/7. It will be another couple, my bf and I. I was hoping for some suggestions on resturants. We will be going to the skylon tower fri night. I have heard about another resturant in the embassy suites hotel. KEG? I was considering this play for night 2. We will be staying at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I cannot help you with the other restaurant but want to know you will love the Skylon. If you are late enough on Friday night you can watch the fireworks display over the falls but while you are in the Skylon it is incredible, like you are part of the fireworks. Also sunset is very neat that at that height. watching the lights change over the falls at night is very unique from inside the Skylon it is hard to not linger. The food is pricy, take you CC and beware!!

Since you are staying on the Canadian side of the Falls, you might want to trying posting/searching on the Canada board for some suggestions.

The tourist area around the Falls is filled with amusement places (a couple casinos, Ripley's Believe it or Not, wax museum, etc.) and your standard theme restaurants (Rainforest Cafe, TGIFridays, etc.). There are also several restaurants in the casinos, and you may wish to check them out. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

hey brittany21

I know NF is kinda cheesy. All those little touristy places that suck.
But nothing could possibly take away the beauty of the Falls. It makes it worth the other junk...

We stayed at the Embassy Suites and had a Fantastic Room and a VIEW to die for!
Each night My Husband and I would just sit there and gaze at the falls. It was winter time and the ice and falls are lite up in the evening and what a sight. Our pictures are beautiful.

Be sure to do the maiden of the mist. Sounds corny, but it's the only way to get close to the falls and feel the water on your face (they provided raincoats) and the sound is thundering. If your fearless (I'm not) try the highspeed boat that cruises the river leading to the falls. You'll get water on your face and body too. But looks like a blast. We stood at the docks when the tour ended and all the people were saying what a great time they had.

If your a Gambler then there's lots of slots to pull in NF too. The casino is fairly new and machines are tighter than the ones in Vegas. Look for coupons at your Hotel for match amounts on machines and Black jack. And restaurants in the casino.

As for Restaurants in NF it's more bad rather than more good. We have been there 3 times in the last 5 years and it's hard to get a good meal. Sorry to all the NF people, maybe they have better suggestions. The good thing about our Hotel is it provided breakfast and a manager's cocktail meet/greet. So that made it easier. We ate a pancake house there in NF it was HORRIBLE. I told the waitress when we were there and wrote a letter to the owner. I was so upset I could have spit nails at the service or rather lack of and the food was really awful. And I think I have done this 2 times in my life. I left without leaving a tip. That's how bad it was.

Good News, we stumbled up this restaurant one day when it was raining cats and dogs and the wind could have blew us into the falls. Montcello's (I'm not sure that's the exact spelling) We ran in the door for cover. There was a fire place and it was roaring and felt good. We sat down next to it and proceeded to have the best meal there ever. The menu had a large selection and the French onion soup was sooooo good and hot. I had a Chicken dinner and Hubby had steak and it was so good we ended up eating there 5 times. We tried many of the house specials and desserts. We sat at the bar a couple of times and we really enjoyed that. But that fireplace was so welcoming. The service was outstanding. I wrote the Restaurant a Thank You note when I got home. I told them how much we enjoyed it and how welcoming the staff was and how romantic it is, and how much My Husband I needed that quality time alone. 2 weeks later I recieved a Thank You card and a 50.00 gift certif. WOW, that has never happened and I just hope I get back soon to use it.

Have a wonderful time in NF and take lots of money, it's really expensive.

Theresa in Detroit.

We ate at a restaurant on the American side, right next to the Horseshoe Falls. It was called the Top of the Falls Restaurant. We ate on the patio for lunch, and the view and sound of the waterfall was wonderful.

The food was very good, and I would eat there again if we went to NF ....unless I was on a tight schedule. The only down side to the restaurant is that it seemed to take forever to get our food. The service was extremely slow, but it was a vacation and we had time to take our time. However, if that is something that drives you nuts, you might not like that restaurant. I don't know if it was just that day, or if that is the way it always is.

Thanks so much to everyone!
We are def doing the Maid of the mist tour. We plan to do the Cave of the winds on our way home, and JBTF the second day we are there. Its sounds horrible, but my main concern is the resturants we choose. I am responsible for planning this trip, and do not want to choose a place that will not please everyone.
The skylon is a sure thing for Sat 10/6, i made reservations for 8pm. I hope we will get to see the fireworks while we are there. Are they still diong a fireworks display into OCT?
We are going to try a more laid back place for the first night 10/5. maybe that Keg resturant, or one of the othres suggested on here. Thanks!!!
