Any fall color predictions for Nova Scotia?

We'll be in NS from Oct 4th -10th....(coming from Quebec City on Oct 3), then on to New Brunswick and down into Boston the 11-15.

Anyone have a crystal ball as to what the fall color season may be like this year?

We live in a state that doesn't have any (or very littel anyway) fall color so we are really looking forward to it.

No crystal ball, but it was a very wet summer, things are still very green and now the weather has cleared up and warmed up...along the South Shore, at least. According to the locals, this means a great deal of colour but slightly later than usual. In other words, you'll get some everywhere but you may have to go a little further north to get the full show-are you thinking of Cape Breton?

We've already had 2 nights of frost on the South Shore and there's some spotty colour around. Should be great by your arrival.....especially up in Cape Breton.

Oh goodie!! That's what I was hoping to hear. I've been checking weather.com daily to see about the temps.

From what I understand, warm days and cold nights are what causes the leaves to start their change of color.

Thanks so much again....

Would you (if you think about it) mind posting another update in a week?
We leave on Sept 30th...
I'm really starting to get excited as this trip has been 9 months of planning.

Just put together my packing list...

Well, jaspertl, we may not remember without prompting so "ttt" (to the top) this post next week and I will ask my husband who is currently in NS to give me an update for you. Best wishes on your trip!

Starting tomorrow, you will be able to get a report on the Fall Foliage in Nova Scotia from this website:

Some of the leaves are changing now, (Sept 20th) but I would imagine by Oct 4th they will be in full color. The length of time they stay will depend on the weather (ie heavy rains/winds will make the leaves drop faster)

Just an update on the fall colors. I travelled the highways on the weekend, and the trees are ready to burst into color. I would predict by end of week, most will be changed.

Hello there, I was just looking at the trees today and they are just starting to turn. This is a little earlier than the last few years. By the next week or two you will be in the best part of it. Have a great time in Nova Scotia.

The way it looks right now is that by the end of your trip you will not want to leave these beautiful colours behind.

I have just returned home from 2 weeks in NS, staying on the South Shore. There is colour showing but not much. It's been too warm with no frost. On the drive to Kejimkujik National Park there was some colour but not enough to make a good photograph. Should be better by the end of this week.

Got back from South Shore yesterday and the colours are spectacular and should remain so for another couple of weeks. I understand further north, it is beginning to fade, but flying out of Stanstead airport (Halifax) yesterday, it was glorious with colours splayed out against a dramatic black sky and a rainbow!

Wow, "wow" is absolutely correct, of course; can you tell I am lining up a trip to London next year!?! (I was also a big fan of Robert Stanfield who would have made a sterling Prime Minister and so am truly mortified!)
