Accomodations in NS, PEI and NB

I will be taking the CAT from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth and touring Nova Scotia, PEI and back thru NB and am planning on staying at the Pines Resort in Digby, Sheraton in Halifax, the Inns-at-GeorgeSt in PEI and the Lupine Lodge at Campobello. Has anyone ever stayed at these places? Any comments?
This will be end-August/early Sept so I will be expecting cool waters with warm days and cool nights. Would this be right?
Haliburton House, in Halifax, is a beautiful old inn with character.

The Pines is great. The Sheraton in Halifax is a little too "Sheraton" for my tastes. I prefer the beautiful, recently refurbished Lord Nelson Hotel. You're pretty accurate in terms of weather, however, you might be lucky and hit an Indian Summer in September.

Hi Lois,
Jenn is right about Haliburton House, but if your looking for more action the Sheraton has a pool, casino and it is in the perfect location for an evening stroll along the waterfront. Both places are within a short walk to great restaurants. The Pines is good, especially if you golf. Have a great time!

I've never stayed at the Inns at George St., but the location is excellent and the buildings look to be in good condition. A friend had her entire wedding party stay there a few years ago and was happy with it. I think you will enjoy it.

Hi,

Anyone ever stayed at the Holiday Inn Select on Robie Street in Halifax? I'm sure the Haliburton House would be nicer, but it's more than I want to spend.

Sheila

The Sheraton in Halifax has just officially changed its name to the Casino Hotel, I think that says it all...if you are not into the Casino thing you might want to try the Inn recomended here (looks very nice from outside) or the Lord Elgin in that town: the latter has just had a face lift and is in the heart of the student-restaurant district.

The Holiday Inn on Robie St. is fine however is a little out of the way for walking around the downtown area. You would probably want to drive and park. Did you try the Waverley Inn on Barrington St. 1-800-565-9346 www.waverleyinn.com. The Westin www.westin.ns.ca or Cambridge Suites 1-888-41-SUITE www.cambridgesuiteshotelcom. Check these out and you will have something more in the downtown area.

Sheila:

Actually the Holiday Inn on Robie Street is not that far from downtown. I work near there and the Inn is a few blocks from the Public Gardens, and Spring Garden Road which leads to the downtown area. If you enjoy a nice walk, it can be easily done. The Inn is also just across the street from the Halifax Commons so if you have pets to walk or have kids who need to run about, it is the perfect spot! Enjoy your visit!

Lois - I've visited NS twice in July and was surprised at how cool the daytime temps were. It was not what I consider warm (I'm from New Eng.) The first time I was there I didn't wear the shorts I brought -mostly chinos and jeans during the day. There was not a big drop in temp. at night. I'd guess it might of been the high 60's most days and maybe the low 70's once. The second trip was a week of biking and the temps were perfect for lots of exercise...
