Yonat, For hotels, try searching on this travel forum under "hotels in Toronto" or "hotels in Montreal". There are a number of posts which should offer information. It will help if you can provide a range in dollars, rather then "good, affordable"--concepts which will mean different things to different people. And you might want to specify any particular interests, so that people can respond accordingly.

While it is possible to spend a week as a tourist in each city, I think there's a chance that you might become bored in either (especially in Toronto, which is a big business-oriented city withoout a lot of distinguishing and really attractive features. It does have a fabulous zoo, a lake, many good restaurants, a major-league baseball team, a fair amount of theatre and easy, safe walking). You should think about trips (day- or otherwise) to Ottawa (200kms from Montreal) and Quebec City (250kms from Montreal). Both (especially the latter) are scenic and very popular tourist destinations. I think a number of people split their Montreal-Quebec time about 50-50. And Niagara Falls is only 140kms from Toronto. You can rent a car, take the train, bus, tour or fly to any of these destinations. Have a great holiday, and make reservations now--you are coming at the height of the tourist season.

Yonat, I agree with the previous post - you need to be more specific about your interests in travelling and approximate budgets. Just read a thread about a B&B in Montreal - check on www.bonsmatins.com.

You may wish to rent a car, buy a greyhound or a rail pass so you could be relatively free to start in Toronto and make your way via Ottawa, Montreal, to Quebec City or vice versa. Enjoy your visit.

Shalom Yonat; The above posts are right in reccomending a few days set aside for Quebec City, Ottawa and Niagara. Montreal is more exciting and interesting to North Americans because it is more unique than Toronto. But for a non-North American Toronto is very North American without some of the extreme social problems that plague big cities in the United States.

Unfortunately two weeks is not going to give you time to visit Western Canada - especially the Rockies and the Coast. That is truly unique but unfortunately you'll have to wait for another trip to see that.

2 weeks might not be enough but i'd recommend Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. Quebec City is a beautiful city, like being in Europe without being in Europe. You can spend 1-2 days in Ottawa, the Civilizations museum is awesome! Ottawa is the museum capital of Canada! All 4 cities are serviced by VIA rail (train).
