Will things be closed in Fiji on Sunday/Day tours from Nadi?

I hope to travel to Fiji in November. I would like to know if shops are closed on Sundays? Also, is it possible to take day tours to sights of interest from Nadi or am i better off travelling around the Island for a few days? I am travelling by myself and I do not plan on renting a car.

Hi Going to Beijing

When I was there in July I noted that the stores were closed on Sunday except for a few tourist ones.

Fiji is a fairly religious country so Sunday is seen as a day of rest.

There were tourist activities available on the Sundays though. If you are staying in a hotel of any size there will be a tour desk in the lobby. They can arrange all transpotation you need.

As far as staying in Nadi is concerned, any time is too long. It is a dump. Avoid it if you can.

Just up the road is Lautoka, a better town by far.

If you want a more relaxing time I would suggest you investigate one of the islands off the West Coast of the main Island. Much nicer atmosphere and the beaches are far superior to the mainland.

We were in Nadi on Sunday. Jack's Handicrafts was open and we found all the gifts we needed!
