Hi Donnae,
You're talking about 3 completely different destinations with completely different people, customs, lifestyle and attractions.
As I've been to all these locations, I can tell you that Grand Bahama Island has lovely beaches and is very touristy; Cabo has about 3 "swimmable" beaches and is the most expensive place to go in Mexico (frankly, while I book clients there, I just don't get the "charm" of that place, which, IMO, is seriously lacking); Fiji has a variety of accommodations, from very modest to 5-star; the Fijian people are lovely and warm and greet everyone with "Bula!" as you pass, lovely beaches and far less touristy than the other two.
Hope this is helpful!

Fiji and the Pacific Islands are used as vacation spots by Australians and New Zealanders just like Americans use the Caribbean. The experiences are somewhat similar. Yes the culture is different. Yes Fiji has great surfing, diving and snorkeling. The Caribbean islands do not have the same level of surfing or diving but they have snorkeling.
A resort vacation is a resort vacation. The cultures are different, but you really think you get to see much of the real impoverished local culture at a resort in either the Bahamas or Fiji? Hard to see why an East Coast American would go all the way to Fiji for it given the extra cost of the airfare. Most Americans that spend time in Fiji (I spent 3 days) do it to break the Pacific crossing to Australia or NZ. That is why I ended up in Fiji. Outside of the resorts Fiji is grindingly poor. I think they are going to have a real depression there as Australians and New Zealanders have economic problems and can't come and/or spend as they used to.
That is my take on this question based on staying on Nadi for 3 days in a crummy place (I was gone for 9 weeks and traveling solo. I was not about to pay mega bucks for some resort. I did go snorkeling in the same water where the rich people from the resorts were. I don't dive or surf.)

wlzmatilda and LK have indeed summed up some of Fiji for whilst the Fijian peoples generally do have a warm good natured attitude there is some friction between indigenous Fijians and Fijians of Indian heritage, there having been a number of political coups in recent deacades.
I've never looked up the relative size of Fiji Vs Bahamas and maybe wm did not recognise the extent of tourism development which is more scattered about the main larger island and many outlying islands bith closer to and quite some distance from the main island.
The town of Nadi is in deed very typical of that old worlde tropical town, very grotty in most places and some newer buildings sprinkled about whilst there has been a number of ritzy developments occurring of late down closer to Nadi port but one way or another tourism is big business.
I know little of the Bahamas or the Carribean in general but I do read that crime may be a bigger issue than what it is in Fiji, though the capital of Suva does have problems too.
Beaches on the main Fiji island are generally not so great other than a few here and there on what they refer to as the Coral Coast between Nadi and Suva, and you need to get out to the smaller islands for best beaches and snorkelling.
After having been to some asian islands and even NQ islands and mainland locations I would rate Fiji as over-rated on both facilities and cost and in order, for me it would be 1. Asia/Asian Islands, 2.Australia 3. Fiji

Democracy for one .
The current Government of Fiji was not democratically elected and on principle I will not consider it until it is once again a true democracy.
That said it has lovely water and sand , is a resort place , no exciting shopping , generally lovely friendly people but there is tension between ehtnic fijians and Indians .So if you love sea and sand it is perfect .

The Bahamas (Lucaya - Grand Bahama Island) is more modern and has cars, trucks, industry, hotels, beaches and gardens, it is not totally developed. It appears to have a lot of poverty as some hotels and businesses seem vacant.
In Fiji in the mamanukas you are really living with the tribe people - the modern Fijians are really nice. The Fijians who live with their tribe live their lives innocently enough however you must have a guide to roam around some islands.
We found snorkling to be much better in Fiji.
