Wellington accommodation
Looking for accommodation in Wellington for four nights in February but I'm not sure where to start, area-wise.
Our preferences are central & quiet with easy parking. Something on the outskirts would work too, although I'm not sure what to expect with CBD parking should we need to drive into town from our accommodation. We generally prefer self-contained or B&Bs, not big fans of hotels in general, under NZ $200 per night.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Keep in mind that this was 10 years ago, but we spent two nights at the Bay Plaza Hotel in the CBD. Free parking, we had a nice room overlooking the bay, and it's an easy walk to Te Papa and other Wellington sights. http://www.bay-plazawellingtonnz.com/

mel, you may remember my mentioning the B&B that we stayed in in Wellington, which was remarkable for its position, and the friendliness of its owner, Peg, who invited us to join her and her friends for supper on the night we were due to stay with her, rather than have us arrive there in her absence.

There is parking, but it can hardly be said to be within walking distance of the city as though it's in the centre, it's right up on top of one of the hills overlooking the bay. What you lose in convenience, you make up for with the view.
