wanna be busssssyyyyyy......brisbane
my daughter, at umelbourne, really wants to visit the "beach"--she's had too much city. mom, when visiting, wants to do it all--hike, rollerblade, eat well, have adventure. can someone give me a full full full packed itinerary for 2-3 days out of brisbane that would include lots and lots of things to do. i don't want to rest--wanna go, go, go. we are both athletic and not much will hold us back. help!!!!!!!

liz--as i said in response to your reply on my first posting--in know absolutely nothing about the area. i was really hoping for some concrete suggestions--specific places to go--places not to miss. i'd love a response such as----leave at 8:00 for....at around noon make sure you try to...... if you were to come to boston mass. i'd be sure to give you a full day of "must do's" that would be unbelievably comprehensive----if you wanted to "go--go---go" sorry if i don't sound as if i appreciate general info--i do!!!i was just hoping for some real specifics. thanx

Given how active you say you are, and the fact that you're going to be travelling with a Uni-aged daughter, I would suggest putting a post on the lonely planet thorntree website. Although mostly backpackers, there are heaps of locals that reply. They will have tons of concrete ideas of how to make the most of an active few days outside of brisbane, as they will have either done it themselves or live there, and because they tend to be younger they may have more direct information about hiking/rollerblading/whitewater rafting, etc.

Some more ideas:

There's a good book '200 kilometers around brisbane' (or something similar) that you can get at local bookstores in Brisbane, such as Mary Ryans. Lots of daytrips, w/detailed schedules and information.

You can hike around Mt. Cootha, with good views of the city and excellent dining at the top. Oxley's is another fine restaurant right on the river.

Day trip to Noosa or Sunshine/Gold coast and take a surfing class.

Take a rock climbing class at Kangaroo Point, right on the river with a splendid view of the city.

Brizzie is a fine city, often overlooked by overseas travelers. Enjoy!

There is sssssssooooooooooooooooooooooo much to see and do around the Gold Coast I would not know where to start. I have been to Boston and if I was going there I would search it and research it to get a starting point. Suffice it to say that if you want to be really busy then Brisbane is not where you want to stay. I spend a little time each day on this site but cannot cover all that you would like as the areas north and south of Brisbane have books written about them and I don't have the time for that when everything is available on the net.
