Thanks from me too, Ralph. The demise of all the little towns is really sad, and equally a joy to see some of them sprouting shoots of life again. Love the yellow footed rock wallaby - I've never seen one and hope they survive the current generation of humans and our stupidity and live on to delight the next generation.

Ralph, kid you not: after my own Outback exploration in the '80s, I did in fact write an original song about some Aussie wildlife titled 'Do the Bettong'. It was a tongue-in-cheek rock and roll dance number with deliberately silly lyrics. Our '70s band had been reuniting annually back then, simply for the fun of recording some originals and the tone of those was sometimes too serious, too precious. So my contribution as secondary songwriter/drummer was to 'take the piss' that way.
