Yes BigBlue rule out Lenna, it is a very steep hill and also there are a number of stairs sometimes from the lift to the rooms, depending where your room is. I did not like the Lenna at all as it was quite warm when I was there and there was no airconditioning nor fan so had the windows wide open which meant that the lights which lit up the Lenna lit the room as well so it was either that or be hot.
I like The Old Wool Store which is an apartment hotel and which is one block from the wharf area. Has everything you need and very confortable. If you want a view of the harbour though then the Grand Chancellor is the one to go for but ask for a room with view or you may just be looking in the wrong direction. Sometimes in some places if you do not let them know that you are not up to Olympic pole vaulting standard there are spa baths with the shower over which usually means for me a difficult manoeuvre getting into them and also with me it just is not a good look either!!! There are other hotels near Salamanca which are also Apartment hotels and are close to the markets and nice eating places, although the wharf area up the Grand Chancelor and Wool Store is great for food too i.e. Fish Frenzy and The Drunken Admiral.

Big Blue - RE a suitable place for you and your 'dicky knee' in Hobart an obvious choice is The Wrest point Hotel/Casino. Some great restaurnats in there and stairs are not an issue as elevators get you to where you watn to go. If you can afford it, take one of their Executive Suites with river views (these are huge and have a large walk in shower and a separate bath/spa tub if so desired. If you go to www.wotif.com and click on 'Hobart' as a destination, then scoll down and you will find this hotel. There are huge savings by booking thru this site all over Australia. Their inventory is only 28 days out and in the cooler months here, the discounts are really quite considerable. Good luck - I am sorry you won't be visiting me here at Matilda's. The dogs are never intrusive and there are only 2 left in the Goldie Gang now. If you are passing by - drop in and say hello. I would like to meet BIG Blue and Mrs Big Blue. Huon is pronoiced "hewon"...
