We're visiting Australia in December, and I'm wondering if one night at the Dolphin Resort is enough? We want to feed the dolphins, sand toboggan and possibly go on a quad tour. Would two days, one night be enough time to get this all in without over doing it? Thanks!

That might be pushing it. Check what time the ferry to Tangalooma arrives and returns and see just how much time you would have on Tangalooma. When we went there we arrived in the morning and left in the morning so we really only had one day. We fed the dolphins but didn't do the sand toboggan or quad tour. I guess you could do everyting, you would just be rushed. That's my opinion. Anyway, Tangalooma was wonderful. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

We have been there twice and loved it, however I think you are rushing a bit.
2 nights would be better.

We did the quads, great fun, sand taboggoning was dreadful, I hated walking back up the dunes, I did 2 runs down in the time we had, got sand absolutely everywhere, it was horrible.
But I am a miserable old git so just ignore me...lol
Oh and watch Scooby Doo the movie 1 it was filmed on Tangalooma.

We were there in Oct 01 and over xmas 04 and it was great.

Thanks for the heads up on the sand tobogganing Mucky! lol I probably would feel the same. We'll probably just feed the dolphins and go on a quad tour. With the quad tour, how long is it and how do you get there? Are we bussed? Thanks, I think we'll change to 2 nights! What were the accomadations like at the Resort?

Hi, the quad trip lasted about an hour I think, it goes from close to the jetty and there is a route up over the dunes at the back of the complex, we found it good fun. Take a camera; you can get some good snaps from the top. Don't take a Camcorder of any description which has moving parts as the sand gets everywhere.

The accommodation consists of a number of apartment/villas which are located well and very close to the beach in some cases, but they were beginning to look a bit tired when we were there but I am sure they would have spruced them up by now.

However there are new hotel accom at the back of the resort, which are just a couple of years old, obviously no self catering facilities but they have A/C which the villas do not, although they have fans and rely on the breeze from the sea, which is quite cooling.

Personally I prefer the villas/apartments, we had a driftwood apartment which was right on the beach it was beautiful but I couldn't get used to the sound of the sea so close over night and I had trouble sleeping because of it, but everyone else was fine.
I am used to silence when I sleep (apart from Mrs Muck snoring of course)

Hey come on now! The sand toboganning is great fun. Just remember - keep your mouth closed on the way down and don't wear clothes with pockets. Anyway, what's a little sand between friends. Go on do it - you'll be glad you did.

Well that explains why I didn't like it. I can never keep my mouth shut and I have to have pockets to keep the children in £££.

Thought I'd add my 2 cents, as I've been there a bit more recently than Mucky (2005)...

Obviously, the dolphins are the big draw and well worth it in my opinion.

As far as the accommodations go, I would describe them as "modest". It's your basic type of motel sort of deal, and the facilites are clean, the maid service is regular, and you're not going to spend alot of time in your room anyway. It's just basic accommodations, just so you're not expecting anything a bit more upscale with nicer amenities.

I went out to the dunes but after I saw the size of them and people walking up I opted out as well. I'm with Mucky --and if he's still picking out sand 3 years later, I'm glad I DID opt out, and I suggest a shop vac for him!
