Sydney Intercontinental or Sydney Shangri-La

Which hotel is recommended over the other, with rates being the same?

Which one is in a better location to walk around Sydney, etc.

I have never visited the city so therefore am unsure of distances, walking around, etc.

Thank you!

The location of the Intercontinental is perfect. A short stroll to Circular Quay, opposite the Botanic Gardens, easy distance to the shops, not far from The Rocks IMO ideal.

The Shanfri-la is a fantastic hotel (especially the premier grand deluxe rooms) although the walk up the hill is a bit tough in the heat but a GREAT location to the harbour/rocks etcs

We just stayed at the Marriott which was an easy walk to the Rocks and Circular Quay. We walked everywhere, never used taxis, and when we needed ferries, took those to Manly Beach and Rose Bay (on an all-day pass) from Circular Quay.
