Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk Photo
My photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk placed in the top-10 in a photo competition! Woo-Hoo. I'm an amateur photographer, and it's very exciting for me.

Well done Songdoc! You're also a wonderful Advocate for our beautiful country.
Love your photos - you so often capture the elusive moment, the "ordinary" place & people that makes a standout picture.
Thank you & long may you visit our shores.

Thank for the nice comments.
I use a Nikon Coolpix P510. It's got 42X zoom and I bought it so I could use it when I travel without carrying additional lenses.
Here are my tips:
-- go to gorgeous places--like Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Paris ... ;-)
-- take the same shots multiple times -- from slightly different angles--and with different settings
-- crop them and use the "straightening" tool
-- and, the most important one: take tons of photos--but only share the most exceptional ones. Be brutal! I typically take 800 - 1,200 photos on a trip -- and I share 50 - 80. The rest are just for my eyes.
FYI, I'm currently working on scheduling my next trip down under--and am hoping to include Tasmania!

Hi, songdoc. Thanks for the tips. I use a Canon 600ED but use two different lenses - a bit of a pain when you are travelling but I have managed to get some fabulous shots. My DH and I have over 11 000 photos from our recent 3-month trip of the UK, Hong Kong, parts of Europe, Canada and San Francisco, most of them mine.
I have already started to cull the not-so-good photos and sorting out which photos we would like to share or print.

Truly an exceptional shot. In this digital age we are bombarded with so many images it is refreshing to know that a familiar sight can be captured in a unique and interesting way. Thanks for sharing.
