Hi, Chris7!
Being a Stamford, I am sure that the hotel itself is as nice as can be, but do you have a special reason for wanting to stay way out there? You have a thirty-minute bus or train trip every time you want to go into the city.... and the trains don't even go from North Ryde (you'd have to go to West Ryde). If your main interest in Sydney is a visit to Macquarie University, which is quite near, then you won't do any better than this one, but if you're coming to see Sydney, then forget all about it. It's like going to see New York and staying in Hackensack!

Fair comment from Alan. North Ryde is nowhere. Pharmaceutical companies are near, too, but nothing else.

From North Sydney, North Ryde is inconvenient - and I don't think there are any buses (could be corrected on this)

If you want to be in North Sydney, stay there.

Margo is so wrong about buses. With Macquarie Uni and Macquarie shopping centre just down the road buses converge here from all over and can take you in most directions.

With relatives nearby will you really need public transport anyway?

Have you considered staying in Chatswood - very handy to the northern train line, lots of bus routes and new apartment style accommodation at the Sebel Suites (I think).

There's also a number of hotels in North Sydney including the Duxton - very handy to the train at Milsons Point and ferry across the harbour to the city.
