As a big All Black fan I would love the All Blacks to win the World Cup this year.
England look VERY strong and hopefully it will be an NZ v England final with the All Blacks winning but it is never cut and dried.
We (NZ) will probably face South Africa in the 1/4 finals and Australia in the semis if all goes well so it will be tough going for whoever makes it through.

Re the soccer... NZ does have a national soccer team, the All Whites.
The All Whites actually made it to the Soccer World Cup back in the early 80's. During this era, Soccer reached huge heights of popularity here in NZ.

Soccer is played here regularly with a National Tournament but the reason no-one knows we play Soccer is because we just aren't very good at it.

The Aussies also have a National Soccer team...The Socceroos.

Go The A.B's .........

Well, Muck

Wales makes the quarters. When does the singing start? Where are you going to disrobe?

Hi Margo,
The singing has already started.
I would try to begin with the new very tight lycra Wales kit, but unfortunately I probably couldn't get it on or off.....lol
Thought I could use some help singing too so here are some of the lyrics for you all to practice with.

Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau:
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi, Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau, bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

English translation:
The Land Of My Fathers

The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
While bleeding for freedom of yore.

Chorus

Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
While sea her wall, may naught befall
To mar the old language of Wales.

:-"

Today's a big day for the World Cup: the deciders for who is going to make it to the quarter finals.

Will it be Scotland or Fiji?
Will it be Sth Africa or Samoa? (GO SAMOA!!)

And the Aussies are playing Ireland. GO AUSSIES!!

I think New Zealand will win the final 'cause they are so far ahead of everyone else, but I'd love to be proved wrong if Australia makes it!

Oh ISD,
On Paper it should be NZ, However:
They will enter the quarter finals suffering from shock and upset distraught because their confidence is shattered by the smart thinking of the MIGHTY WALES who will MURDER them tomorrow '6-3'.
You see; we will form a wall right across the pitch and we will keep the ball to ourselves and not share it with anyone else and when the big NZ players try to get it we will poke our tongues out at them just as they did to us in the Haka !
We will then unleash our secret weapon, Max Boyce, who will do his own Humpty dumpty Haka and the poor NZ players will be crying real tears. To see 15 grown men cry will be so sad for the NZ fans. That they will all head back to their homes in NZ and try to forget the day that Wales beat them.
Then Wales will go on to beat England and Australia and lift that cup.
They will take it back to the Millenium stadium (it's rightful home) and show it to the proud people of Wales who will travel from the Hills and valleys of Wales, not just to glimps the magnificent trophy but to hug and kiss it.
And when the stadium is full the voices of Wales will rejoice in harmony with the voices of Male voice choir and the roof of the stadium will lift off once again, (like it did when cardiff city beat QPR in the play offs last year)
We will all sing together, and the world will plead with Wales to allow statues of our team to be placed in all major cities of the world, as a reminder of the day we made NZ cry and all the people of Wales smile.
"Ahhh...what a wonderful world"
;-)

what a night, enjoyed the Fiji v Scotland game, South Africa v Samoa was a bit of a let down but the Ireland v Australia game was a nail biter.

The NZ ref was a bit loose and let the aussies get away with a few suspect lineouts here and there and as for awarding a penalty for the aussies infringing in that scrum ... diddn't England get awarded a penalty try for the same thing against Samoa?

Looking forward to tonight when the AB's take on Wales, pity that Wales are fielding their B team though as the All Blacks could have done with a tough game at this stage.

Go the All Blacks...bring it home

The reason Wales will field the 'B' side against NZ is this, many of our first choice players are busy tonight.
Gareth Edwards is opening a new hospital wing in Neath.
Barry John is playing golf.
JJ is on holiday in Barry Island with his sister and mum.
JPR is visiting his auntie shirley.
And the young guys Neil 'Ginger' Jenkins and Jonathan davies are working down the Glyneath social club cos all the bar staff are in Australia.

=D>

Cmon Wales !!!

WOW !!!
What a game.....
Congratulations to NZ.
You take your rightful place at the top of the table.
We expected a masterclass of rugby, we just didn't imagine the game could have been so great.
Just a quick question, does your number 11 have Welsh Grandparents?

Bring on England

I heard the engineers are adding special bolts to the millenium stadium roof in preparation for us bringing home the cup.
The pubs are preparing for the biggest game for years, Wales v England.
Really Wales don't want to win the cup.
Just beating England will do.
And yes the throat is a bit sore tonight..lol

woo-hoo,
great game last night, those Welshmen turned it on and played a blinder. Had this kiwi-girl shaking in her boots.

Bring on the quarters and let the games begin.

I thought that last night's game was the best game I have ever seen. I think that had Wales had a really good runner that they would have won that match hands down. I don't think for one minute that the English team would be taking them lightly as the Welsh showed last night that they do have what it takes to win because the Kiwis didn't have too much of an answer to them. As for the Aussies, well what can I say other than perhaps the Irish will now pray for them and see if that helps any cause the way they are playing nothing else is going to.

Not happy Jan! I tipped Ireland for this quarter-final, and it's 45 minutes into it and France is up 30-0! Curses!

I'm spending WAY too much time watching rugby this month. At least it's confined to weekends now...it was getting ugly when games were almost every night of the week.

Let's see how Wales fares against England. What do you think, Mucky?

Hi everyone,
Wales gave 100% again and did themselves proud.
Wales is a defeated but proud nation tonight.
There were so many if only's in this game, our kicking was poor, Stephen Jones has kicked hundreds of points for Wales but just couldn't make them count today, we gave too much ball to the English and gave away too many penalties and lost too many lineouts.
England don't deserve to be where they areand the whole of Wales have shed a tear today.
It's a difficult decision who we support now, we are not great lovers of the French as you well know, however the English are 'absolute cads'.
So will we remain neutral for the game?
No chance !! I think for just one game we should forget our differences with France and get behind them. As the old saying goes we support Wales and anyone playing against England.
C mon France !!

So in answer to the question who will win? .......Australia.

Much disappointment here, too.

OK - so Oz won against Scotland, but that standard won't beat the All Blacks. Perhaps they'll be tired after that rugged match against Sefrica!

But - we miss the spectacle of Mucky and the anthem, and the Bridge and the....

Wales did play well, and were all over England. They were ahead on points and in play when I dozed off. Too bad.

Go the frogs!

What the Aussies need to win is about 5 people who can leap in the line outs. 2 who can run. 3 who can catch and not drop balls and 4 who can stand their ground in the scrum. This adds up to a totally new team, assuming that George stays and I doubt we have time for that. Oh well just remember past glories.
The French do look good though and I think are the winning team, that is as long as the ref has his glasses on!

Have you seen Campese?s World 15? Nine kiwis, 3 Poms, 2 Boks, 1 Frog, not an Aussie in sight!

For my money a repeat of the first World Cup final and a repeat of the result.

Go Black!
