Quay West or Quay Grand Suites in Sydney

Hello-

Got great entertainment rates at both properties but now just have to decide.
Quay West entertainment rate is 255 ASD for Harbour View Room. Quay Grand is 308 ASD for Harbour View Room. Which is in a better location..is nicer, etc? I have seen lots of posts on Quay West but not Quay Grand. Please advise. Thank you!

I don't remember which one is which but definitely stay at the one that is right on Circular Quay. Much nicer. Given that the difference is onley $50AU I'd go for the nicer one.

How did you get those great rates? I'm staying at the Quay Grand, which was recommended over the "tired" Quay West, in February and the Harbour View is over 450!

Hello-

The entertainment book....go to entertainment.com. I have used it for years and it is the best. I booked my entire Aust. trip on the card. Good luck.

Better rooms, view, in-house restaurant, location, area, proximity to local transportation (train, ferry's). Those are such awesome rates.

My clients love the Quay Grand; it's one of my favorites. You'll feel like you're staying in your own luxury apartment with a million dollar view. And speaking of views, don't discount the Quay West -- it's worth a trip up to the pool area to check out the view.

Melodie
Certified Aussie Specialist

I think the view from the Quay West cannot be beaten and since you can't get tht special view of the Opera House at the Quay Grand - I opted for Quay West. Our apartment was fantastic - harbor view 24th floor just below the pool deck. We visited the Quay Grand and it was lovely and it was closer to the activity at Circular Quay but, for us, it didn't have the requisite view. For anyone who would like an additional site - try www.mirvachotels as that is the parent company for the hotels. The site really offered us great rates as we were there at the end of February.
But, and there's always that - have a great OZ trip!!!!

thank you all for your reply.....
how far is the quay west from rest., shopping, etc? I have heard excellent things about the Quay Grand but am also nervous about the noise level since it is so close to the harbour. Even the hotel said it can be noisy at times from the harbour view rooms? Has anyone stayed there they can confirm or deny this? How far of a walk is it from Quay West to Quay Grand? Thank you!

We stayed at the Quay West and thought that it was fantastic....with fabulous views.

If the hotel is warning you that the room could be noisy at times....then I would expect noise.

We stayed at Quay West at the end of October, it was pricy but I would recommend it. It's only 2-3 blocks from The Rocks, 1 block from the Circular Quay and George Street. Harbor view rooms give you panoramic views of the entire harbor including the Opera House, Circular Quay and the bridge.

Based on advice here, I bought the Entertainment book. I called the 800 number and was told to go to hotels.com and that's what's available. I guess the Quay West discount isn't available mid February. When are you going?
What else did anyone find the entertainment book helpful for in Australia or NZ?

Another great place to find incredible rates at most of the major hotels in the major cities in Australia, check out www.wotif.com. Some rates are as low as 70% of the standard rate. The only caveat is that you can only book about 10 days in advance. So if you must know exactly where you will stay months ahead of time, this site is not for you.

Hi again
We stayed at quay West at the end of February this year and got the same $250 a night special from their internet site. Mirvachotels.com give it a try or maybe try a search but it was well worth it. This was NO room - this was a full one bedroom apartment and it was super!!
