Paying for petrol

I will be touring New Zealand by car in Oct/Nov this year. What is the customary way of paying for fuel at petrol stations in New Zealand? Do they accept credit cards (Mastercard/Visa) or do you have to have cash in your pocket?

Credit Cards are commonly used.

I mostly used a credit card to pay for petrol. Most garages also do a variety of fresh and hot pies which are great if you don't have time to stop for a meal.

Yelpir, I'm sure you already know this, but petrol is cheap: only $1.25 or so (until you realize it is sold by the liter!). enjoy your trip!
