One full day Auckland-what to do?

We fly in late on Oct 21st and depart early on the 23rd. We have been to fantastic Auckland a few times and were wondering if there is something of interest closer to the airport. A small beach town? Historical community? Or is downtown Auckland our best bet? Thanks

Have you taken the ferry to Devonport or Waiheke yet?

Or go to the west coast beaches such as Muriwai or Bethell's Beach.

Last trip I found some self guided walking tour brochures for central Auckland which was interesting.

Thanks for the info. We haven't been to Devonport or Waiheke. Maybe that would be the best option for the day. Devonport looks interesting. Thanks for the info.

We really enjoyed Devonport. Stop at the information center and pick up a self-guided walking tour brochure.

If you venture another 30 minutes by ferry from Devonport you'll be at Waiheke. It really is a beautiful island - one of my favourite places in New Zealand.
