Nice places to stay while honeymooning in New Zealand in September?
I need help in locating accomidations to suit our needs while traveling/honeymooning for three weeks throughout New Zealand in late September. We are outdoor people and would rather be away from larger cities/people. Ideally, the hotel/resort would have an incredible view as well as suitable meals. We don't plan to use a lot of the guest services (massages, gym, etc...), but are more likely to take day adventure trips away from the hotel then come back for dinner/sleeping. We are looking for HIGH quality romantic accomidations in which to be "pampered with a view" for a few days at a time while traveling. Any help (as well as web sites, if possible) would be GREATLY appreciated. At this time cost is no issue.

Thank you!
Paige and Jason

The best place I know of in New Zealand is in the North Island near Taupo. It's Huka Lodge www.hukalodge.co.nz which is outside of Taupo and has great views, service and food It's on a river and close to Lake Taupo and mountain areas. (hiking) Visit the site for more information. You can't go wrong here.

We are planning a trip to New Zealand next month and found some lovely bed & breakfasts on the web at: www.intimatenz.com. Hawthorne Country House in Hastings on the North Island looks particularly nice. We're also staying at Old Saint Mary's Convent in Blenheim on the South Island (www.convent.co.nz). Another web site: www.heritageinns.co.nz was useful. I'll post again on our return if any of our B&B choices were particularly good.

Sorry all! I lost this post for days, and all of a sudden it is back! I just couldn't find it anywhere, so I JUST posted an updated question titled "Honeymooning in New Zealand - Need Time and Location Suggestions". Since my last post, the original time (September) has been questioned and chnaged, so we are opening up our calendars. If you are so inclined to read my newer post and add any comments there which might be helpful, I would REALLY APPRECIATE it! Thank you!

Paige

Just came home from 17 days in NZ. Here's a comment on the weather - it was cold. We were there from 1/12 to 1/30 and had about 3 warm days in that time. I had just thrown in jeans and a sweatshirt for our Milford Sound Cruise & almost lived in them. Considering this was their summer, you might want to take that into consideration. NZ is incredibly green and beautiful - it rains alot.
