National Parks - New Zealand

Thinking of touring N.Z in camper van 16 days in early November. Do I need to make reservations at the parks?
Would like to not be on a set schedule and just pull into a park. Thanks

We spent a couple of months last year travelling around by campervan ending in mid - late October. By Oct it was getting a bit busier at sites but still planets of spaces both at DOC and Commerical sites. We found the various apps such as CamperMate invaluable for sourcing and locating sites whether DOC, Commericial or Freedom sites.

I would check the timing of any school or national holidays though as numbers will increase dramatically at that time. In busy times it can pay to get to sites a little early to ensure a space - say by late pm.
