Hi Lauren
If you want to check out an ice bar and you are in Auckland, then go on down to the minus 5 bar on Princes Wharf. This is in an area called the Viaduct. It is in downtown so depending upon where you are staying it is probably walking distance.
Minus 5 is next door to Lenin which is a vodka bar.

BTW there are around 50 bars and restaurants in the Viaduct basin. All tastes catered for from Italian to Irish, Seafood to Vege. A few clubs as well.
Hope this helps.

Hi Neil
You are not an ignoramous mate. (Now there was an opening for a Kiwi). Minus 5 is a bar wher it is literally 5 degrees below zero. You sit on blocks of ice at ice tables, whilst knocking back some very nice (and very cold) cocktails.
The staff monitor you quite closely. Not a good look for a punter to get hypothermia whilst on the premises.
In case you were wondering, all winter clothing is provided.
Cheers (never been more apt)

Well, Steve, I did leave myself open there - just wasn't thinking I guess. This has revealed a real masochistic streak in our cousins across the Tasman. Count me out - today's weather in Canberra (maximum of 9, snow on the hills and maybe lower down) is close enough for me, thanks.
