Planning to visit Milford Sound next October and was wanting to know what the day cruise is like. I tend to get sea sick so not sure if this is something that I can do or not. I can take Dramamine or wear a patch but is it rough at that time of the year? If I do go which boat company might have a more stabler boat?

Water in Milford Sound is usually very calm.

The cruises are within the sound, so not out in open ocean, so very little chance of getting seasick. Try to avoid the mid-day cruises as they tend to be full of coach groups - much quieter later in the day.

Totally agree with the above comments. I've been on two Milford Sound cruises and never had a problem with seasickness even though I am easily prone to it.

I get sick just looking at boats, but my 5-6 cruises of Milford Sound have been completely queasy-free.

The water within the Sounds is smooth as glass. As the boats approach the sea to turn around, there is a bit of action, but it's very tame, even for me.

You should be fine.

Do you get car sick? If so, the roads could be a bigger issue.

This is all good news as I really wanted to be able to go out on the sound....will try to get on the earliest boat out to avoid the crowds. Don't really get car sick when I sit in the front seat and can look out so should be ok on the windy roads.
