Crown is the more luxurious and modern. Sheraton Southgate is closer to Melbourne Park (albeit only by about 300 metres). From the Sheraton to Melb park is about a 10 minute walk through parks beside the river.
My only comment about Crown is that it is part of the Casino, and is therefore quite 'glitzy'. If those are the 2 hotels you want to pick from I'd choose the Sheraton. The other option would be Quay West at the Melbourne Park end of the Southgate complex - (the Sheraton is at the other end). They're fully serviced apartments - very nice, concierge, maid service etc. Just no room service for food, but there are cafes everywhere and a kitchen in your room.

I would stay at Crown Towers. I have stayed in 3 different types of rooms there & they all have been very nice.
Don't be put off by the fact it is a casino as well. You can enter via. the main hotel lobby not the Casino Grand entrance, the Spa is on the 3rd. floor along with a Japanese rest & Breeses rest, mini tennis court, gym & pool. The 1st floor has 3 other rest, its only when you decide to go into the shopping area & many other ret. that you start to feel the Casino is near.
Check out the Conservator Res. on the 1st. floor. for a wonderful afternoon tea Sat & Sund.
Crown Towers is the newest of the two & the one we now stay at. If you are staying for any length of time its worth buying the Privaliges Card. Check it out on the www.

Crystal Club Room is not actually a room for accommodation. You have to pay extra for access for your stay. It's basically a huge room with a beautiful view of Melbourne where you can go at any time of the day for a bit to eat or a drink. They have the papers to read etc. There is a full breakfast available. I'm not too sure about lunch but they also have drinks and nibbles at cocktail hour. That's a very brief rundown of what I know about it. Worth checking out.
