Hi, we'll be arriving in Melbourne tomorrow afternoon via Virgin Blue & I was just wondering the easiest way to get into the CBD. Is there an airtrain or somesuch?

Or is a cab our best bet? How long will it take & how much will it cost?

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind -- it looks like this Skybus is exactly what I need:

Yes its great drops you right in center of BCG. You will come in under the station, walk around the garage and up a couple of steps. As you exit you will see a Hungry Jack on your left to your right at the corner is Collins Street with the trams that run around town. The trams in front of station go to various outlying districts, Collins street cross's all the other tram lines.

Depends a bit on how many of yopu there are.

Skybus is about $13-14 each - and takes you to their terminal in Spencer Street - from which you can transfer to hotels - but this bit may take some time.

The last time we were in Melbourne we took a taxi direct to our hotel in the city.

It was a bit more expensive for 2 of us, but infinitely more comfortable in scorching January weather, and quicker. Cost, I think, was towards $50.

We have taken the Skybus on two occasions, and then the free shuttle to our hotel. Does take a bit of time, a taxi is definitely quicker but we weren't in a particular hurry.
