When we walked the trail along and over the Arrow River in Arrowtown, I remember thinking it would be gorgeous in the fall with all the changing leaves. Might be worth a look.

Lake Hayes, which is very close to Arrowtown, used to appear frequently on NZ calendars, postcards, biscuit tin lids (remember those?), etc, showing Autumn colours reflected on the surface of the water. It is also a favourite spot for artists to do their work.
