Itinerary advice (sydney & adelaide/SA)
Any advice welcome.
UK/Spanish couple (30s) flying into Sydney 27/11 (9am), flying syd - adelaide 30/11 (7/8am), ade - syd 6/12 (4pm) and finally departing syd 10/12 (late afternoon).
These flights are booked - had to bite the bullet and grab flights while they were cheap. £520 (plus $80AUS e/w internals)
We're both biologists and so would like to see wildlife in particular.
We've been thinking of the first couple of days - Sydney itself (Harbour Br. etc).
After that I'm open to suggestions.
We're likely to spend a day or two at the cricket (I've currently got tickets for Day 4 (4th) of the test, but will try and get tickets for day 1/2 instead).
We've only been to Oz once before and that was only in Queensland (Bris, Cairns, GBR, Tablelands, Daintree, & "Outback" for a day or two which was a hightlight (lava tube place)).
Any suggestions for our 3/4 non cricket days in SA. Kangaroo Is? Flinders Range? Barossa Valley?
Also we've been thinking about the Blue Mtns at some point during the second Sydney bit.
Appreciate I'm asking you guys to do all the work, but.....!!
Would have love to do Tassie & Uluru & NT/WA but they've been left for trip 3.
We'll be renting a car in SA (probably not in Syd). Cheapest way to Kangaroo Is?
We're fairly low budget travellers and typically got double rooms in "nice small hostels" when in QLD.
Accom/Restaurant advice also welcome!!
Thanks in advance....

While in S.A.I would suggest Kangaroo Island to you for a wildlife experience - seals, koalas, roos etc. There is lots of information on this forum if you do a search, but I suppose your main decision is if you do it independantly or with a group. I think you need two days there - others may have differing opinions! Either sea or air transfers from Adelaide are possible - ferry packages with car hire etc available http://sealink.com.au/ and I think that REX airlines flies to K.I.
Apart from 2 days there I would also recommend the Barossa Valley - our friends from England always enjoy a day there - have lunch at one of the wineries - there are again, many suggestions on this forum if you search.
Also, in Adelaide's Port River there is a pod of up to 300 dolphins living in an urban environment - cruises are available. Also here's a link to an S.A. Tourism site for other ideas:

Adelaide has lots of excellent eating places - many of the affordable Asian/Italian places are situated around Gouger street in the city.

Hi - lucky you having tix to the test - Adelaide I assume - gorgeous ground. Maybe you heard about the brouhaha here when tix for the Sydney test went on sale on the net! Much angst and gnashing of teeth.
Anyway hope you enjoy it. KI is definitely worth a visit if you are in ADL already. As for SYD - don't miss the Blue Mts. One suggestion would be to take in the Jenolan Caves too. Travel up in the afeto mn t

continued .. yes, travel up in the afternoon - stay somewhere within striking distance of the Jenolan Caves. Move on back to the Blue Mts next day; have a full afternoon there, stay overnight, and have most of the next day too to do some of the amazing walks thereabouts - and truck back on into Sydney.
Assuming, that is, you are thinking of hiring a car.
But don't do the return on a Sunday!!
Happy travels. (now how do you say that in Spanish?)

We just returned from Adelaide and two days on KI; it was great. Adelaide is a lovely city; don't forget to tram out to Glenelg. KI was simply wonderful; we used KI Wilderness Tours; Greg Roberts was the terrific guide. The guides can get you into some of the more remote or restriced areas. We stayed at Wanderer's Rest which was comfortable but not luxurious; the couple that runs it just relocated from the Barossa and are dedicated bird watchers. It is about a two hour trip from Adelaide to Cape Jervis where you get the ferry across; we drove and left the rental car in a lot by the ferry terminal.
