Hi.
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Christchurch. It was a very nice hotel, about 10 minutes (on foot) from Cathedral Square, nice location. We were told (by a cabbie) that it's the nicest hotel in Christchurch, but I can't vouch for that.
Of course, Christchurch is not as upscale a city as some (although the residents like to think it's quite cosmopolitan), so the Crowne Plaza is not quite up to the standards of the one in Auckland, for example, but still very nice.

We've stayed at the Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge - loved it.

Hi Allyndon

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Christchurch last April and found it to be excellent. We have also stayed at the Hiltons in Sydney, Cairns, and Auckland. All very nice, we are returning to NZ in August and will be staying at the Crowne Plaza again.

In Queenstown we stayed at te Herritage, and found it to be very nice. Free hot breakfast in the morning, large rooms with in-room washer/dryer combo. They are out of town, but have bus service into town. The walk into town can be very pleasant around April with the leaves turning.

Have Fun

Cheers

Steve

We stayed at the Heritage in Queenstown and recommend it. Ask for a Lake side room and the views are unobstructed and breathtaking.
