Help..Kuranda or Daintree??

My husband & I will be staying in Palm Cove for 4 nights. We have set aside 1 day to tour the rainforests. My dilemma is I don't know which one to go to.

I'd like to hear stories or recommendations. Did anyone take a tour to the Daintree that they really liked? Is Kuranda too touristy? Help!!! I only have a few weeks before I go.

Hi there, I would suggest to you that Kuranda is the "home network shopping in the rainforest experience" and that Daintree is the "Discovery Channel rainforest experience".
A good daintree tour is BTS. They have small groups and are a local company.
Enjoy

Caro is right.

Daintree is the real deal and Kuranda is nice but more like a theme park version.

We've done both..if you have to choose do Daintree. with a car you can go up to Cape Trib on your own..just stop at the environmental center as you head in to the forest.
Although Kurunda may be a bit closer Daintree is far more interesting. The first analogy by Caro is right on. I recommend a tour though if you are interested in learning facts and details about the makeup and animals of the rainforests. Our tour guide spotted so many snakes, crocs and other wierd animals, trees and insects that I would have just passed or not noticed. (well maybe not the crocs-they can be pretty obvious). Many of the tours are the same I can't remember the name but I'm sure your hotel will be able to recommend one. There is also a good visitor center in Palm Cove where you can book tours.

Thanks for all the input! I'm going to Daintree. BTS tours looks like exactly what I was searching for (thanks Caro for the suggestion).

Christina,
If you want a small, personal tour and can get to the Port Douglas, I would highly recommend David Armbrust's Natural History Safari. Check out his website at anhs.com.au. It was THE most memorable part of our trip to Australia last year.

I have done both and have to say Kuranda is the better bet. I was very disappointed with the Daintree tour and actually found it pretty boring and a waste of a whole day. The Kuranda trip was half day and you get to see the same forest. The one bonus with the Daintree is the boat trip to see the Crocs but I would still go with Kuranda. Cheers.
