Hi Monica, The Rendezvous hotel is situated on Scarborough Beach, a very popular place for tourists & locals alike, however Rendezvous is the only high rise hotel on the beach. You would also need transport to get around to the different areas of Perth. The Hyatt is in the city with possible river views, walking distance to city centre & Northbridge for dining etc. Also close to ferry & buses, to get to Fremantle & Rottnest.
Depends on what you want to do. A friend from Wisconsin came here this year for 10 weeks and she stayed in Freo for a couple of weeks, then drove around down south staying at B&B's, then did a day trip to Bali, spent a week up north & then stayed at Hillarys Marina in a unit for 10 days, so she had the best of both worlds. But not everyone has that much time either. January here is high season, school holidays & very hot, so maybe the beach is for you. There is public transport available to the city if you don't have a hire car, and from there you can access most places. Sue

Maybe amazing - but true. Garuda leaves Perth at 8.00 am, arrives Bali at 11.40 am - all day shopping and back to Perth very late evening/early next morning - makes cheap shopping at about AU$250.

Hi Monica,
Yes it is hot in January in Perth.
If you like the beach and quite large waves you will probably enjoy the Rendezvous, it's right on the beach front, but a bit out of the way from Perth and Fremantle. If you stay in Perth or Freo you will have more access to shopping and tour pickup points. The Hyatt is also a bit out of the way though, quite a walk from the main shopping area. For 4 to 5 star hotels in the city that are a bit closer to the main shopping area, i would suggest the Sebel, Mecure, Parmelia Hilton. Some of the appartments are nice too and possibly a bit cheaper. Hey if you get the chance to travel down south do so! It's beautiful down there and January is an excellent time to see it too. There are tours that can take you for a few days if you don't like to drive. You'll need a few days to see it in comfort. Have a nice time
