GBR(Orpheus or Lizard) and Whitsundays Cruise on Solway Lass
Hello to everyone,
This is my first attempt at posting, but I have enjoyed reading comments before. We are beginning to plann a one month trip to Australia mid April to mid May 2004. I'm looking for feedback from folks who have stayed at Orpheus or Lizard Islands. We hope to stay for 3 days at one or the other.
Also would like info from folks who have taken the 3 night cruise through the Whitsundays on the Solway Lass. Thank you.
AndrewDavid
PS can provide info on the american SW as we live in Santa Fe, NM

I can't help you with Orpheus or Lizard as I have not stayed over on the islands but others who have will help you our or perhaps do a search on this board for both of those islands and a lot of information should come up for you.
Just wanted to say that Santa Fe is my favourite US town - had a lovely week there about 4 years ago en route to Mesa Verde. Best part of the States imho.
Enjoy the GBR

Andrew, or David, Firstly, if you stay on the mainland, you can take a "day trip" out to Lizard with Greg at Daintree Air. He will show you the reef like now one else. He has been there heaps of times. The resort can be quite pricy, as you probably already know, so just taking a 40 minute flight for a day trip is the "way to go". Such a wonderful, magical place, it is. To have the reef shown to you be an experienced guide is the only way to go !!!!! No boat trips getting sea sick on the way out for an hour and a half. Check out their web site at www.daintreeair.com.au and see for yourself. We just returned, and can't stop talking about it to all of our friends. Have fun. We are already planning our next trip to Lizard.

We stayed at Orpheus last September and loved it. Great food and service. About 30 other guests, so it never seemed crowded. We waited way too long (we were there 5 nights) to try their take-your-motorboat-to-your-own-beach-picnic-lunch. I will never, ever forget all of the goodies we found in that picnic basket. It was like lunch at the Ritz.
I looked and looked for discounted rates and never found them either and ended up booking directly with them.
