Fiji for 2nd honeymoon in August, Details needed
We are planning a 2 week trip to Fiji. We want to make sure we spend a lot of time at the beach. A place where the crowds are on the low end, but where we have the opportunity for fun and nightlife. Good sea food is a necessity. We have not been to there before, so I would appreciate any insight into specific places you would suggest. We are planning our trip in August. Looking for romantic lodging and a good time. Would appreciate web links and feeback.
Thanks,
Mark

Nighlife is not a big thing in Fiji - romantic dinners, and small groups of people making friends yes - but parties - no.
Depending on your budget - Yasawa Island, Vatulele, Vomo for the top end. Mid to top - Matangi, Toberua, Quamea, Tokoriki, Matamanoa.

romantic dinners, and small groups of people making friends quantifies to me as nightlife. Thanks for your response. I will check those out. We would be looking for a nice but smaller type of place to stay. A place where the bar tender will know me by the end of the 2 weeks. Know what I want to eat and drink. Any ideas of specific locals?

For small private islands you can miss with www.MatangiIsland.com. They specialize in honeymoons and diving. Caution, it is hard to find space there so book early.

Tokoriki would be my suggestion - lovely rooms and beach and all staff will know your name withing about 20 minutes of your arrival!

I had a crap time at Toberua and found it very disappointing (beach not great, resort needed upgrading this time last year so not sure if improvements havce been made since my trip).

On Viti Levu, I also loved the Natadola Beach Resort for a night or 2 either side of the island trip.

All of the resorts are quite isolated - just one to an island so you eat all meals at your resort. All of the resorts suggested have great food, usualy with daily changing menus. I'm sorry to hear about Toberua - I haven't been there for 3 years - so I'd heed Sonia's report. I also agree that Tokoriki is good. In the end it will come down to what you want to do & how much you're happy to pay!

Sheraton Villas on Denarau close to Nadi are very spacious and close to several restaurants although the best food we had was Cardos at the Marina or Sentai Chinese in Nadi. Tokoriki is over-rated-we did not enjoy our stay and the food was very ordinary-same menu for a week. I would go to Turtle Island-it is rated by many travel writers as the best island destination in Fiji. I have stayed on Nacula, close to Turtle and next visit for me will be Turtle Island for a week. Good luck! Check out Wakaya Island if you've rolling in money!
