Another option is here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/austr...plication.html
They deliver on exactly what they promise. If I remember correctly, the total turnaround time was 1-2 days for me and my wife. It is free and all they suggest in return is a donation to the charity of your choice.

Thanks Mel and Orlando. I, too, would prefer to go directly to the source but my husband was trying to be helpful and used the EasyETA. I'm a little paranoid now about their validity. Since I didn't use the government site I cannot check to see if we are actually registered. I think I may take a trip to the airport and ask them to check my passport to see if it's linked. Not sure if I can do that but it's worth a try for my peace of mind. Thanks again.

No Mel they did not. They e-mailed a copy of the approval from the Australian Government. It is a blue shaded background with all of our information on it.That, too, worried me that they would e-mail all of our information. Ugh!

rllit, it sounds like you need to talk to this outfit and reassure yourself. Actually I've never understood why these middlemen are so popular when going through the official government website is (it would seem) a straightforward and inexpensive option.

Hi guys, I am writing this on behalf of us here at EasyETA.
Sorry about not being able to generate confirmation numbers that can be cross-referenced with the Australian government ETA site, but those reference numbers are specific only to their site only.
We here at EasyETA.com have processed thousands of ETA travel visas successfully so rest assured that your ETA visa confirmations are valid and you will have no problems during entry into Australia, granted you have been approved.
Keep in mind, any IATA registered travel agent using an authorized computer reservation systems (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, etc) can verify the validity of an ETA at any time. And of course, the airlines will check if the passenger has a valid ETA before departure using their APP (Advanced Passenger Processing) system. If for some reason they do not, the airlines will sometimes require you to purchase an ETA from them.
Hopefully this clears up some confusion around the ETA approval process but in summary we do the exact same thing the official Australian government site provides, but just as a lower cost option.
Thanks and hope you guys have a great time in Australia!

Also, the Australian Department of Immigration created an informative (but short) leaflet regarding information on ETAs which can be found here:
