Hello all,
My flight will arrive at 7.45 pm at Darwin or 8.45 Pm (It souds qantas changed her timetable). Do you know a nice place to leep ? We want to drive to Kakadu in the evening or the next morning. I wanted to stay at Novotel but we won't stay a long time. I prefer something closer.
Anay help would be appreciate.

Kakadu is about a 3 hour drive so I would leave it till the morning. If you set off really early ( ask at the hotel you stay at for times) try and get to Fog Dam before the birds start to take off as that is a sight you will have in your mind forever and is really special!
I am not up to date with places to stay in Darwin as I lived there and therefore didn't have the need for hotels. Hope someone else can help you.

Darwin has a population of about 70,000 so nothing is too far from the airport.
Its about 8 years since I was there so am not uptodate with accommodation and in fact I can't remember if there is accommodation available at Humpty Do which is on the way to Kakadu. There are a few road houses en route to Kakadu which are not too far out but again the factual information escapes me.

Definitely stay in Darwin and then drive out the next morning - apart from the fact that you will be tired, there are often animals on the road after dark. The nicest place to stay in Darwin is at one of the hotels along the Esplanade. Check out www.ntexplore.com
If you are going to be in Darwin on a Thursday or Sunday night, it could be worthwhile to stay at the hotel at Mindil Beach and go to the Mindil Beach market - great experience and great food.
I think it should take you about three hours to drive to the park. If you want a coffee break, there is a roadhouse half way between the main highway and the park entrance.
