Cook Islands

I am planning a 3 month trip to Australia and New Zealand for January and am thinking about including the Cook Islands. Is this a good idea? If so, how much of my 3 months should I plan on spending there?

Thanks

Wow! That's cool. Sorry - I really have no idea since I've never been. But, we're looking forward to our 2 week trip there later this year. Can't wait! From what people have said - the Cook Islands sound very laid-back and slower than your typical hectic, touristy vacation destinations. Probably not too much nightlife, except maybe on the main island of Rarotonga. We're expecting many days of lazy relaxing and nights of peaceful sleeping. How lucky that you can go on vacation for 3 months!

It would be a wonderful idea to spend some of your time in the Cooks. I would spend a minimum of a week, including at least a couple of days on Aitutaki. 9-11 days would be more ideal, but with only 3 months to see both NZ and Oz, I think that your time would be better spent extending your visit to those much larger places.

A week to 10 days is plenty on the Cooks. definitely slower paced & relaxing. Be sure to have dinner at the Flame Tree.

Traveling Kate: We visited the Cook Islands for 2 weeks in February acouple of years ago. They were interesting, but would not stay any longer than a week. It rained all the time while we were there. Suggest you do NOT stay at the Edgewater. Poor service, poor food, definetely not worth the money. I would go to Aitutaki for a few days. Very lovely. Also the Flame Tree is a terrific restaurant. Don/t miss it.
