Christchurch - Lunch - Airport or Thereabouts

We have four hours between a domestic and international flight at Christchurch and wanted to find some place to have lunch not all that far from the airport. We will have a car. Would like somplace not too fancy and more in the outdoors than inner city. Any thoughts?

The airport is very close to Christchurch Botanic Gardens and Arts Centre. A few places that have an nice setting, casual and decent food are Annie's Wine Bar and Dux de Lux. If you eat near the Botanic Gardens you'll also have time to stretch your legs.

There's also Mona Vale but can't comment on the food there.

The Botanical Gardens etc. are about 25 minutes drive from the airport. If you want something nearer I can recommend Hintons Vineyard which is 5 minutes from the airport, the link is www.hintons.net.nz
Good luck

Considering that it's only about 5 miles and a 10-minute taxi ride to the Botanic Gardens, and that this is sammylads one and only post, I'd be willing to bet he's advertising.

Definitely not avertising mlgb, I am a Christchuch local who enjoyed lunch there last week! Why pay $37 each way in a Taxi and rush around due to the 25 minute drive when you have a half decent restaurant 5 minutes down the road?? Didn't the original poster require information on something near to the airport??
Cheers

mlgb and sammylad,

Thank you both. I will have a car so taxi fare is not a problem. I am just trying to find a nice setting in which to have lunch before taking the family back to the airport.
