Cairns

What's the best way to maximize our short one day stop in Cairns. We will be arriving with a cruise and thought of maybe taking the train to Kuranda. Has anyone stopped there while on a cruise? and if so, what did you do. We arrive early a.m. and have to be back by 4:30 p.m. or so.

4holdings, why is it that people ask questions like this but give us no idea of their interests?

Yes, many cruise passengers to Cairns take the Kuranda Train/Skyrail trip, and often there are so many the 2 trains are booked out. So if this appeals would book in advance, am sure ship's purser or its tour desk would be happy to help and give you advice on transfer arrangements and times.

As mentioned above, if we knew your interests could perhaps give you some alternatives.

if you need to return by 4.30 it will cut your options down a bit, it all depends on what time you disembark the cruise ship. As the 2 posts above mentioned it's hard to suggest things when you don't give enough details in your question. have a look at this website about cairns, http://www.visitcairns.com.au and then you may get a few ideas, and please supply us with a start time
