Bora Bora on a Sunday?

We will be cruising to New Zealand via the French Plynesia islands. We will be in Bora Bora on a Sunday...does the island shut down on Sundays?

Was there on a Sunday, but didn't leave the resort that day.

Sorry.

petlover - you might be thinking of the Cook Islands which is rather "quiet" on Sunday. At one time people weren't permitted on the beaches on Sunday; this has subsequently changed. However, there don't seem to be any inter-island flights between the various Cook Islands on Sunday.

We were on a cruise in May of 2000 and had the pleasure of visiting Bora Bora on a Sunday. Not only was the island very lively, but we had the opportunity to observe one of the most amazing church services I've ever witnessed! I will never forget the sound of the beautiful Polynesian voices lifted in song...it was one of life's great moments.

As I recall, we enjoyed a VERY active Sunday participating in various tours around the island. I'm sure in the past four years it's only gotten busier!
