For a unique taste experience you can't go past the Possum Pies from the Road Kill Cafe, on South Island (NZ) West Coast. The ingredients are certified fresh, they drive up the road each morning and collect them before the traffic squishes them out of shape, although a little bit of pre tenderising doesn't do the pie much harm. They also do Possum Kebabs, and BBQ Possum, and a mouth watering Possum Terine. Prices are incredibly reasonable as there are no raw material costs.
Second the vote for Jimmy's Pies, consistently good, and sold all over the South island. What amazes me is that Mrs Mac's Pies, which I believe are produced in Perth (W/Australia for the geographically challenged) are exported to NZ, and sold in competition with the local product, and at about the same price. There's something a bit screwy somewhere. Maybe their "Beef" was hopping around the Outback a few weeks ago
